Nephrology

Nephrology is a specialization that deals with adult paediatric medicine that concerns the study of the kidneys. The scope of this specialization covers normal kidney function and kidney disease, the preservation of kidney health, and the treatment of kidney disease, from both non-surgical medications to renal replacement procedures.

Nephrology also studies the systemic conditions that affect the kidneys, such as diabetes and autoimmune diseases; and the systemic diseases that occur as a result of kidney disease, such as renal osteodystrophy and hypertension.
