Orthopaedic surgery or orthopaedics is the branch of surgery concerned with conditions involving the musculoskeletal system, that include the Bones, Cartilage, Ligaments, Tendons and connective tissues. Orthopaedic surgeons use both surgical and nonsurgical means to treat musculoskeletal trauma, spine diseases, sports injuries, degenerative diseases, infections, tumours, and congenital disorders.
Musculoskeletal system trauma cases could include damages through various injuries. Besides it also includes rehabilitation due to age related degeneration like arthritis, lower back pain or joint issues. A few arthroscopic procedures include the replacement of joints more commonly known as Knee replacement, Hip replacement etc. Orthopaedics also spreads it’s scope to sports related fitness aspects also called sports medicine.
